Born and raised in Half Moon Bay, California, I developed a passion for the ocean at an early age. My first experience with reporting came in 2011 when I started writing about surfing for my high school newspaper, covering local contests, reviewing movies and documenting my own personal exploits. All the articles are archived on my blog and can be viewed here.

Through the School of Journalism and Communication at UO, I learned that journalism was the career I wanted to follow. I have a passion for writing and design because it allows me to be creative with a purpose. I chose to go into sports writing because I believe it's a unique way to tell people's stories.

In the spring of 2018, I took a class dedicated to covering track meets at UO, including the Prefontaine Classic and the NCAA Outdoor Championships. In the class, I learned firsthand the nuances of covering the sport, as well as how to put events into a larger context. I freelanced one piece for the track & field website, DyeStat.com, which can be viewed here.

As one of the beat writers for Oregon football, I covered home and away games during the 2018 season. In mid-October, I traveled to Pullman, Washington, when Oregon took on Washington State. You can read the full gamer here.
